The Costa Blanca has an abundance of excellent marinas. If you are an avid sailing enthusiast or you're new to boating, this coast of Spain will capture you with its natural beauty and the excellent facilities on offer.

Calpe, in the Marina Alta region of Costa Blanca is a perfect base for cruising, with more than ten first rate marinas between Alicante and Denia alone.

On leaving Calpe marina and turning to port, Moraira marina awaits a mere 2 nm. away. This marina has over 620 berths and is an integral part of the town. Moraira, once a small fishing community and now a small town is notable for its lack of high rise buildings, its streets are a mixture of wide boulevards with fountains and narrow pedestrian areas. Moraira has long been popular with Spanish from Madrid and Valencia with many having second homes there, along with many other nationalities.

Leaving Moraira and continuing up the coast for a further 5 nm. we reach the marina of Javea , similar in size to Calpe marina it has excellent facilities for visiting yachtsmen, and is positioned close to a marine nature reserve, it is the perfect place to snorkel and dive.

The next stop is Denia, it has two marinas side by side, Marina de Denia with its 400 plus berths is very modern and still has a "fresh out of the box" feel, with shops and restaurants lining the quayside. Club nautico de Denia having in excess of 600 berths is famous for the sailing events it hosts. The city of Denia is a short stroll from the port. Denia has something of interest for every visitor, be it wandering around its ancient castle or museums, sampling its many bars and restaurants or simply shopping in the boutiques. The Balearia ferry service operates from the port travelling to Mallorca and Ibiza.

Within an 8 hour sail from Calpe its possible to reach the party island of Ibiza or the renowned anchorage off Fermentosa. Ibiza is a great stop off for cruising yachts wishing to sample the delights of the Balearics.

A little further up the coast is the Oliva Yacht Club, Gandia Royal Yacht Club and Valencia . Valencia has numerous marinas and is host to the prestigious 2007 Americas Cup .
If you were to turn to starboard when leaving Calpe you would pass Altea where you will find two marinas; Marina Luis Campomanes and Club Nautico de Altea , home to around 2000 boats. Arriving at this port from the sea provides one of the finest vistas over this picturesque seafront town. Travelling a short distance southwest, Alicante is the next major port. There are numerous marinas in Alicante :
Club Nautico de Alicante : After a cruise through the Mediterranean , it is a true pleasure to moor your craft in the very centre of the city, at this marina. Few places can offer a range of services such as those to be found in Alicante . Set right on the seafront promenade of Explanada, and a stone's throw from all amenities.

Marina del Campello: The yacht club is located in one of the natural shelters for boats just before they round the cape known as Cabo Huertas, easy to locate from the sea because of the circular watchtower that was once used to sight pirates offshore. The club's installations have been renovated in the last few years.

Marina Deportiva: Marina Alicante is more than a marina, it is a whole complex devoted to leisure and sports navigation, situated inside the incomparable setting of the city of Alicante . Only 50 metres away from Alicante 's city centre, Marina Deportiva de Alicante has all modern amenities.

Alicante Real Club de Regattas: These modern installations contain one of the oldest yacht clubs in Spain . It has a long seafaring tradition and has been the home of big names in regattas. The club is at its busiest during the celebration of the Trofeo Tabarca Ciudad de Alicante, which scores towards the Spanish Championship.
Further down the coast is Torrevieja and Mercia .

The area hosted the 2007 Americas Cup.
